The Spirit of 33: A Picture from ourselves

Our observing programs are based on an International network of observers. In some way, this image tries to represent our Group's philosophy on the Global Village where you can't see any artificial border. Also, you can appreciate the amazing level of luminic pollution in our Planet that causes serious difficulties when trying to observe faint Galaxies and Nebulae, not to mention the nightmare that this issue represents for Astrophotographers. Many of us have been forced to focus only on double-stars and open clusters, since in general these celestial objects don't require ink-dark skies for observing. Nevertheless, luminic pollution is one of the biggest problems that an Amateur Astronomer must face. Sometimes we fight against this problem trying to find a dark observing site in the mountains or places far apart from our cities. Other times we must simply forget about "faint-fuzzies". Anyway, Double-Star observing will survive at least for a while. We have time, but not an eternity!
