Very, very wide...
Luis must have had a secret, hidden reason for putting this one on the list. I suppose it is somewhat of a challenge to find the faint secondary with small telescopes. And maybe it is the somewhat
bluish color that the secondary seems to show (according to Skymap it is
just white). The primary is (also) white.

Wide, very noticeable magnitude
difference, not much color noted. Rather blah.

Very wide and faint with
no background interest. Primary yellowish white @ 50x. Secondary too faint
to discern any colour. Very faint scattering of background stars. Background
field not evident at 80x and secondary only just visible. Not one I'll
be visiting again.

Date & Time: 9:00 -> 9:40 pm CST. Seeing: 6 <1-10 Seeing Scale (10 best)> Location of site: Killeen, Texas Site classification: Suburban Sky darkness: 4 <Limiting magnitude> Moon: No moon in the sky Telescope: 8" Celestar SCT Eyepieces: 25mm, 17mm, CMG (12.5mm) Magnification: 80x, 120x, 165x |
A very wide spaced
pair with a large magnitude difference. The primary is about mag 6 and
appears blue, the secondary about mag 10 and is too faint to detect color.n
They
lie on an approximately E-W line.

This star is unmarked on
my charts and only careful analysis of position and magnitude revealed
it. Perhaps it may be too wide for some catalogues.
Comments: This is a whitish star with a wide dim companion in a sparse field.

Site classification: Suburban Temp: -4ºC Conditions: Clear except between 2110 & 2240, when mainly overcast, Wind SW - NW 5/15kts Sky darkness: 3.0 (U Mi) <Limiting magnitude> Telescope: Orion Optics UK GX250 Eyepieces: 25 mm Ortho, 20 mm Plossl, 9mm Ortho, 7.5mm Plossl Magnification: x10 (finder) x48, x60, x133, x160 |
A very wide pair, interesting
only in that the secondary could not be seen in the finder because of the
full moon. It was, however, clear at x60. No coloration noted.
