Viewed many times before, a nice pair of contrasting colors, yellow and blue. Poor split, as seeing caused the images to merge and the double and event triple at times. Measurement; 2.6 sec at 165.7 deg PA.

easily seen as double in the refractor with the 20mm , a great view with the 7.5mm. Measure : 166°3 / 2"66. Exposure time was too long and the components overlap, to be re-observed.

Nov 6th measurement is 163°9 / 2"75

Seeing: Pickering 4
Transparency: Average
Location: New London Township,

Site classification: Suburban/Rural
Conditions: Clear with passing clouds
Sky darkness: Not determined
Telescope: TMB152 f/7.9 Apochromatic Refractor
Mount: Losmandy G-11
Eyepieces: TMB Super Monocentric 14mm, 8mm, 5mm
Magnification: 86x, 150x, 240x

The star seemed double at 86x, but I could not be sure. At 150x, however, it was resolved into a yellow and blue pair. The seeing did make the split come and go. At 240x the pair was easy in the moments of the best seeing. The colors remain yellow and blue to my eye.

Harshaw Scale 1-5: 1 best

A yellow and bluish pair just split with medium eyepiece. A faint star south in the field. HS2

I have never been happy with the Heavenly Ram and it was only when I read that it was once known as Gam the Scimitar, by the ancient Euphratean astronomers that this constellation started to make sense. The stars, Alpha, Beta and Gamma easily suggest the raised sword to me from where I watch so far south as it fills a fairly dull area of northern sky before the arrival of Taurus and Orion.
