Sky conditions
seeing-- 7 out of 10
transparency-- 8 out of 10
limiting visual magnitude-- 5
Temperature: 38 F
Telescope: Celestron C-8
Eyepiece: Micro-Guide (160x) with 2.48x Barlow (397x total)
I made five sets of measurements with the Micro-Guide illuminated reticule eyepiece and got an average separation of 5.9" at PA 57. (If you want the measurements themselves, reply to this posting.) This pair was difficult to measure because the baseline for determing the PA was
so short.

I noted colors of Yellow and Yellow.

Measurements from 1977:
9.0m (G5) primary
9.0m companion, 6.0" at PA 54 (both appear to be fixed)

Struve 880 took 90x to be well seen (mind you, by that time I was really freezing so I did'nt linger), and also in the ENE, at about 12", and at  2½ time the separation of 880 but SSE, there was a faint double 10/1.

Seeing: 6-7 <1-10 Seeing Scale (10 best)>
Location of site: 20 miles NW of Tucson Az

Site classification: Suburban
Sky darkness: 4  <Limiting magnitude>
Telescope: 10 inch Meade Dobsonian
Magnification: 49x, 125x (25mm Meade  and 9.7mm Plössls)

At 49X these twins were separated! This one is another good test for me in addition to the famous alpha Hercules. It is near my real world resolving  limit (4 ish with similar mags)  for my back yard. I thought the color was orangish for both.

Separation (Clear or Touching) Clean Split:
Magnitude Comment: Both components appeared of equal magnitude in accoradance with the data.
Color Comment: Both components appeared white.
General Comment: This is a very pretty pair in the telescope. I noted the positional angle at about 45 to 50º which is close to the listed PA of 54º

Temperature: 28°F (-2.22°C)
Sky darkness: 5.1  <Limiting magnitude>
Telescope: 97mm, f7 apo
Magnification: 26.7x, 80x
Elongate at 26.7x and cleanly split at 80x. Could probably have been split at about 40x, but I didn't try because of deteriorating sky conditions.  Maybe tomorrow.  This is a nice, small headlight double.  Colors: A = B = white.

Tom Teague
Star: Struve 880
Date & Time: 2000 February 19, (2315 UT)
Seeing: 7 <1-10 Seeing Scale (10 best)>.

Site classification: Suburban
Sky darkness: 3 (Moon just past full) <Limiting magnitude>
Telescope: 63mm Zeiss Telementor refractor

I found this pair with great difficulty, and only after a lengthy search.  Beautifully split with averted vision at both powers - slightly better x112.  Both stars appear white to me.

Identifiable as a double even at low power, easily separated at 50x. Secondary appears slight fainter.  Both appear white in colour.

William L. Schart
Star: Struve 880
Date & Time: 2/56/99 8:35 pm CST
Seeing: 6  <1-10 Seeing Scale (10 best)>
Location of site: Killeen, TX (Lat 31 N, Elev 600 ft)
Site classification: Suburban
Sky darkness: 4 <Limiting magnitude>
Telescope: Orion 6" Dob.
Magnification: 32x, 48x, 72x, 120x,144x, 240x

After an hour of sometimes fustrating searching, I finally located what I am pretty sure is this pair. I began to suspect splitting at 72x, and at higher powers the split would pop in and out of view. The mag (8) and the close separation I estimate at about the published figure of 5.5. I guestimated a PA of about 60d, which is close to the 56 published.
