SH 73 was under view, presenting
a nice color contrast of yellow for the brighter pair and blue for its
companion. Easily split at low power, I measured this pair at 16.9", PA
264.7. However, further investigation revealed this to be an imposter:
the infamous nu CMa! The suspect had been previously seen on 1/20 as part
of the Big Dog, and had
assumed a new identity to sneak in to this project! This masquerade was detected much to late for disqualification.

Richard's cleverly located
star lies in the centre of two binocular companions. Hartung records them
as Orange-yellow and Bluish and they seem unchanged since James South measured
them in 1821.
Comments: I found the stars easily separated at low power and located in a rich field of fainter stars. The Primary had a Greenish suggestion in the yellow colour which the companion was Blue. HS2 |
