A Spanish entry appropriately
enough in the Bull. This was the first real challenge of these games, with
a DI of 93.81. At low power (80x) nothing of the duplicate nature was to
be seen. At mid power (120x) I suspected elongation, perhaps even an occasional
split, and confirmed things at high power (200x), where the companion appeared
as a small dot almost due south of the yellow primary.
There was some degree of unsteadiness at high power, with the primary pulsing a bit and sometimes obscuring its teammate, but the little guy was definitely there. When I put this pair in the center of the low power FOV (0.6'), 2 other similarly bright stars appeared at the edge of the FOV, at about 10 and 2 o'clock, forming a large triangle. |
