Well, we can summarize the 4th S33 Meeting as another great success. My wife Ana and me arrived with Paolo and his wife Rosanna for having dinner on friday 5th, 2003. After that, they decided to have a "siesta" (a small post-dinner sleeping time) in order to restore energies after the flights made on previous day. As the coordinator of the Meeting, I had to forget all about the siesta, so I went towards the living room and while reading a newspaper I started to wait for attendants. Soon Paco and his wife Aurora arrived from Madrid. Although I had exchanged some e-mails and telephonic conversations with Paco, it was the first time we met. I don't know why, but it's always the same for people loving Astronomy: the "Tuba resonance" occurred immediately. Soon Pepe arrived and then John at "biscuit time" in the afternoon. Paolo joined us also and then Alejandro and his wife Camino from Leon, then Peter and Maria Jesus from Madrid…. After having supper at night in the hotel, we setup our scopes in the observing deck but the transparency was horrible. The 60% Moon seemed a really fuzzy object, a huge bright nebula!. Ok, maybe not so much, I think I'm exagerating :), Paco had time to point his 8" Dobsonian on M57 while Pepe and I mounted my FS-102 over his turbo-charged EQ-6 mount (new motors from Astromeccanica and then some fine machined gears). The views from Mars in my refractor were not bad at all, very similar from the ones obtained from the Televue 4" Apo of John. Peter's 10x50 Pentax PCF-V Waterproof binoculars were having their "professional" first lights (I must say that Peter has finally bought binos, planisphere, flashlight and some books, being infected in Astronomy). By the way, after everybody touching and observing through the "Waterproofs", as soon they were named, I can say that it's probably the best price/quality relationship for a 10x50 binocular today. We were observing until about 2:00 am mainly observing Mars under the worst conditions skies we have ever had in a S33 Meeting. Who cares. We where together and everybody agreed that that was the important thing so we called it a night and decided to "regenerate some blood", as a friend of mine calls sleeping :)

After observing the previous
night, Ana relaxes on the Hotel's lawn
Peter helps Paolo in
inflating the "Star UFO" (more later)
Pepe observes the Sun
with Paolo's TV Pronto
The "Star UFO" flies.
After inflating it, the heat from the sun makes the air inside hotter and
you can see here the results
Pepe walking just under
the "Star UFO"
Paolo in his lecture
about the historical observations of Mars
Alejandro's lecture about
the historical observations in Leon skies
Paco's lecture about
astrobiology. Life is a fuzzy concept
As in every Meeting,
Pepe shows us his new astrophotographies (Cygnus region shown at right)
Rosanna and Paolo, happy
after the lectures
Saturday night we had
not clear skies. Instead, we enjoyed a fantastic concert of Portuguese
"Fados" and French songs
Sunday morning. Breakfast
time
Peter and Mª Jesus.
Finally Peter got infected by Astronomy!
Instead the traditional
"Fabada", we had a terrific "Paella" in Gijón. Tim, we were thinking
a lot of you :)
Friendship, Astronomy
and good food, just feeling "redondos" :)
Just in the previous
instant to go aboard the plane. No problems for carrying the Pronto!
And yes, here is the
