Star: Struve 2393
Date & Time: 13th July 2001 2145 UT
Seeing: 7 <1-10 Seeing Scale (10 best)>.
Location of site: Near Halifax
West Yorkshire, England.
Site classification: Suburban
Sky darkness: 5 <Limiting magnitude>
Temperature: 14C
Conditions: Light W'ly breeze, 1/8 cloud
Telescope: Orion Optics UK GX250 10" f4.8 Newtonian on Vixen GP mount.
Magnification: x60, x133
Eyepiece: 20mm Plossl, 9mm Ortho
Observed whilst still in nautical twilight. Was able to see the primary (mag.7.7) in the x10 finder, but needed x133 and averted vision to identify the comes in these light conditions.

At this time this was seen as a very ordinary pair. No coloration noted.  Perhaps more interesting in a dark sky. I shall re-visit to see.

John M. Ryan
Star: Struve 2393
Date & Time: 19 July 2001 ( 21:45 UT ).
Seeing: 6+ <1-10 Seeing Scale (10 best)>.
Location of site: Barreras, Salamanca, Spain.
Site classification: Rural,Suburban.
Conditions: no moon, fairly dry but with gusts of wind.
Sky darkness: 5+, some light due to street lights in the village. <Limiting magnitude>
Telescope: Meade 7" Mak Cas mounted on a Losmandy GM8.
Eyepieces: 20mm plossl, 12mm plossl
Magnification: 134X and 223X
Harshaw Scale:  <1-5; 1 best>
Hint of the double at 134X but a good split at 223X. With the big difference in magnitudes and the bad seeing the secondary was oscillating in and out of view but the split was definite. The primary was white with a tint of violet and the secondary was a whitish grey. With the color tints and the difference in magnitued I gave this double a rating of 2.

Date & Time: July 28 2001
Seeing: 6.5 <1-10 Seeing Scale (10 best)>
Location of site: Canada
Site classification: Suburban
Conditions: Clean skies and warm temperatures.
Sky darkness: 4.5 <Limiting magnitude>
Telescope: 6inch/f5 newt

With a Lucida showing its old star pedigree, markedly orangish, though resolved at 40x, the cpn was dim and remained so even at 85x. Very nice field though; a ***

The double is set at the nose (western end) of a kite
shaped asterism with a fifth star making a tail angled to
the north.  The tail, the last star in the kite, and 3 others
make a long, straight line from NE to SW.
