A tight pair with a wide 3rd member. I was only able to get an elongation on the tight pair by going up to high power.

Seeing: 8 <1-10 Seeing Scale (10 best)>.
Location of site: Annen, The Netherlands - 53N, 6E
Site classification: Village backyard
Sky darkness: 5 <Limiting magnitude>
Telescope: Celestron C-11
Eyepieces: Ultima 30mm , TV plossl 20mm, LV 15mm, 7mm
Magnification: 400x
Harshaw Scale: 3 <1-5; 1 best>
I probably stumbled on a period of good seeing while observing this close double (0.9").

At 400x I had a real good view with sharp star-images, some parts of diffractionrings around them and a clear, almost "wide" separation between them. Taking 0.9" as the distance between the centers of the stars I estimate the black gap between the star-images to be about 0.3".

Date & Time: 07/22/01  0740 UTC
Seeing: 6 <1-10 Seeing Scale (10 best)>.
Location of site: Lake Oswego, Oregon
Site classification: Suburban
Sky darkness: 5.0 <Limiting magnitude>
Sky: New moon + 2 days
Telescope: 8 inch LX50 SCT
Eyepieces:  18mm Radian, 2x barlow, 7mm Ortho, 12.5mm CMG
Magnification: 112x, 224x, 285x, 160x
Primary......white
Est PA AC without inst....270d
AC is a wide double and easily split at any power.  The best I was able to do with AB was to get an elongation at approximately right angles to AC.  Made a single CMG measurement of  48.77" separation of AC .  Nice, busy field.

Philippe Dejocas
Star: Otto Struve 371
Date & Time: August 8 2001
Seeing: 9 <1-10 Seeing Scale (10 best)>
Location of site: Canada
Site classification: Suburban
Conditions: Clean skies and warm temperatures.
Sky darkness: 4.5 <Limiting magnitude>
Telescope: 6inch/f5 newt
Magnification: 260x

The greatest challenge I faced that night. But thanks to the seeing (which had improved by then to close to 9/10), and the relative brightness of the stars, at 260x I got it, an unmistakable split, but by short bursts.

Ambience: one could sense/smell/feel the touch of autumn; a little bit cooler, a little bit less humid.  A beautiful night to observe.
