Finally located this after several nights of trying..
Is part of a 5 star asterism I call “triangle and 2.” 7 & SAO 98683
fom the 2, while 98704, 98696, & 98687 from the traingle. All this
found by hopping from o Leonis. Can be split with 32x. Separation
43”, PA 87d. Primary bluish white, while the secondary seemed more blulish.
There were 2 other pairs visible in the same FOV. One I have tentatively
identified as STT 102. The ID was made by using the freeware program "Ciel"
and the WDS catalogue info downloaded from the same site (http://www.stargazing.net/astropc/download.html).

This star a little tricky to find at first but a westerly
line along the Ecliptic from Regulus and past Psi Leo(somewhat brighter)soon
had this double gem in the eyepiece. I found the 6.33 primary an ultra-light
blue with a marked brightness contrast to its 9.48 grey companion at 41.2",
P.A. 80o(WDS cat.).
In the same field and about 14' NE is a more closely balanced double of mag. 8.7 and 9 stars at a wide 83". (Several hours later when Leo was at culmination I just split Leo 7 in 25X100 binocs and noticed the primary a cobalt blue(Night-eyes?Optics?). Ambience: Noticed Hubble pass at a dim 2.5 mag below Orion and enjoyed again R Leo, my favourite variable, in close proximity to Leo 7 in its isosceles triangle. The cold change arrives soon so cloud for some nights.May the search continue! |

7 Leo and O. S. Struve 102 were altogether easy at 90x making a nice
field.

Comes is difficult with poor transparency (mag 9.5). A
pale blue. 20' SSW there is STT 102, more easy to see at same power (7.9
- 9.1 - 43° - 48.2 arcsec) but too faint to see colors.
