Location of Site: Terara, New South Wales, Australia, Long.150.38 degrees; South 34.52. Site Classification: Suburban Sky darkness: 4.5-5.5 <Limiting magnitude> Instrument: 8" F9 Dobsonian. Magnification: 144x (12.5 mm Ortho) |
This is a rich yellow star with a faint delicate companion
of unknown colour following in the field at X144 magnification. An interesting
deep blue star is found south in the field.
Ambience: a very clammy night with swirling mist and dewing up additing
a glow to distant street lights. I was glad to have wheels on my telescope
to chase these low objects that hid behind chimneys and rooves. A visiting
son turned on all outside lights to make a snack in the kitchen(?) so this
was a sign to take my damp feet indoors.

After some difficulty finding this system I observed
a yellow coloured primary with a pale blue secondary at the listed PA.
Well worth the search!!

An extremely frustrating star! I suspected the comes at all powers
except x280. I most strongly suspected/glimpsed it x140. I
feel almost certain I saw, or at least repeatedly glimpsed the companion,
but I cannot say I am 100% sure of it. Unfortunately, the seeing
has slightly deteriorated since my earlier observations tonight.
