There is a scintillating field just to the south. Bright (6 mag) SAO 68909, to the west, is a pest!! The primary is an infra-red source. The companion is optical. There is another optical companion of 10.8 mag 22" away in PA 11.

Site classification: Suburban Sky darkness: 4.0 <Limiting magnitude> Temperature: 78F Telescope: Vixen 80mm Fluorite, f/8 on Custom D altaz mount Magnification: 104x, 142x (6mm Vixen Lan, 9mm Vixen Lan & 2x Barlow) |
Very difficult to see mag 10 component with direct vision
at 104x. Slightly easier but still tricky at 142x. Primary appeared to
be a rich yellow.

Date & Time: 11/12 Aug 2000 (21:00UT- 01:00UT) Seeing: 6-7 <1-10 Seeing Scale (10 best)> Location of site: Cheshire. UK Site classification: Suburban Sky darkness: 3, moon ( low in sky ) <Limiting magnitude> Telescope: 200mm f/6 Newtonian scope mounted over a Vixen GP mount (manual slow motion). Any Quoted PA or SEP using micro guide Magnification: X120, X240 X324 |
This system was observed using X120 and X240 to be yellow/orange
for the primary and pale blue for the faint secondary.
Even though difficult I used the micro guide at X324 and Toms drift method to measure the PA of the secondary to be 113.5 deg with a separation of 53.5 sec.

Companion very dim. Probably very close to the limiting
magnitude (10.0) this evening.
Asterism of 5 stars just below double looks like a flying sea gull to me. Est PA without insturmentation 110d Primary Yellow-Orange
