This star is conveniently located as the brighter of a naked-eye double near the top of Crux.

Comments: Tonight the primary appeared distinctively Light Blue and the wide and faint companion had a Pinkish hue. An ideal small telescope object. HS2.

Easy split at low mag. Good example of easy uneven double.
Prmary noted as white to pale yellow, no colour in secondary

Notes: Part of faint naked eye triangle of stars halfway between Gamma Cent and Epsilon Cent. Better known as the sign post for the bright edge on galaxy NGC 4945, know as ‘the Brick,’ and the fainter round galaxy 4978. Although seen previously, neither where observed during this session.

Ambience: A short session by my standards. But the seeping cold of on coming winter made its presence felt in the heavy dewing of the scope. I had not thought
to break out my winter dew guards etc, so felt it best to finish early for the evening. On a disappointing note I have found my Barlow lens to be defective, meaning many of my observations of the closer doubles on this list must be called into question. My intention is to re-visit some of the these doubles, and attempt to repeat previous results. Linear A2 is now to far gone for meaningful observations, Mars, the next great wonder of the Southern sky is yet to clear the nearby tree line.

News is filtering through that Nova 1910 Aquilla is in outburst, meaning we now have two nova - the other being Delta Scorp - in the sky together. Many people complain the sky never changes, sometimes I wish this to be true, because I sure can not keep up with everything that is happening.
