This mag. 7.5/8 star with
a wide separation of 16.6" is found close to Zeta And and is the most Southerly
double at+24º 3'.It lies in the box-like section of And. East of the
Great Square of Pegasus.
With low power this was an easy split with three stars sharply visible in the field. Comments: The primary star appeared pinkish with the near companion a deep Blue. A fainter third star appeared in a similar bearing to the companion star.

Located at the vertex of a triangular asterism near zeta.
Not split at 32x, primarily because of the faintness of the secondary, but cleanly split at 48x. Both were B. Separation was 16”, PA (average of 3 measures) 197.5. rating: 3 Ambience: my faithless animals deserted me for the comforts of the house. The large apricot tree in the center of our yard just suddenly decided to shed all its leaves, and they are well scattered around, except interestingly enough, on the concrete pad I observe from. There was some distraction from back porch lights from the houses in back of us on the next street. I am considering rigging a tarp to block these out - probably only need one side, and since this is the side where all the trees block the view, I don’t really have to worry about this restricting my viewing. |
