Date & Time: 21, October, 2000 Seeing: 7-8 <1-10 Seeing Scale (10 best)>. Location of site: Phoenix, USA Site classification: Decidedly Urban Sky darkness: 4 <Limiting magnitude> Temperature: about 70ºF Telescope: 90mm ETX MakCas Magnification: 125x |
After confirming with my Millenium Star Atlas, I know I'm on the right
star, but not suspected as double at 39x. 83x showed elongation in
the direction of 180°, but not clearly. 125x Got it!! Fleeting
glimpses when looking just North of Primary. An almost equal pair,
but not bright enough to guess at color.

Barely but cleanly split at 107x. Slightly wider split
at 142x but cleaner looking at the lower (107x) magnification. No
color noted.

A very tight pair, I had to go up to 120x to split this.
Found near tol gamma And. Both members appeared blue/white to me. The PA I estimated to lie roughly in an east-west line.

Using Plossl 20mm at 50x I saw like a single star. I saw
a very close pair with Plossl 10 mm (at 100x). The best view came from
using Plossl 7.5mm (at 133x), it was splendid. The colour of the primary
seemed white with the secondary a dull orange colour.
The separation of the secondary was determined using the Microguide (at 263x and 500x) and an average of five measures gave 2"38 arcsecs and PA of de secondary found to be 196º. Rating: 2

This close double shows elongation with 100x and the suspection of
the fainter companion. With 285x the split is obvious and the location
of B is confirmed
